Can I keep my Masonic membership private from my parents?

I have been curious about Freemasonry for at least 27 years, and have studied the Craft on an academic level. I'm finally ready to petition. What has hindered me however, for so many years, is that my parents dissaprove of the organization because of Evangelical Christian beliefs. As I don't want to offend them by joing something they consider "Satanic," is it at all possible, to keep Masonic membership private (or secret, no pun intended) from them. We live near each other, in a huge city with dozens if not hundreds of Lodges.
